Day 16 part 3. Skagoset to Kongsberg.

The youth hostel was fine, cheaper than a hotel but with similar facilities. The two person room had four single beds, two of which were folded up against the walls and an en suite bathroom. The en-suite bathroom had underfloor heating so we spread out the damp tent to dry straight away.

Down some stairs and round the corner there was a small kitchen where we were allowed to cook. So we did and enjoyed a quiet meal. After dinner we washed some clothing and then went for a short walk to downtown Kongsberg. There was not much going on, a couple of snackbars open, and it was raining on and off.

We wandered out via the main church that was supposed to be baroque. From the outside it was plain classical in style so how could it be baroque? We made a mental note to visit it before leaving the following morning and then head to the Labro museum on the way out of town.

We mooched around and headed across the river. There we found an estate agents or two and looked at property prices, before buying something to drink from one of the snackbars. We were both quite thirsty for some reason despite having had some soup for dinner.

Not far from the bridge over the river was an amazing building that turned out to be the town cinema. Kongsberg seemed a fine sort of place if you had to choose a place to live. We were actually quite tired, so after picking up some chocolate supplies from the Shell petrol station we returned to the hostel. It was strange to sleep on a proper bed for a change.
